Experience a Kruger Safari at nThambo Tree Camp and stay in unique accommodation in the heart of the Klaserie, a Big 5 reserve sharing unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park. The Klaserie also boasts a plethora of interesting birdlife, making it a haven for bird-watchers. To take advantage of the exceptional game viewing opportunities, safari drives are conducted twice a day.
There are five wooden chalets on stilts, eye-level with the trees. Each safari chalet has tented sides, giving it that iconic bushveld look and feel. Guests can experience elevated views of the Klaserie from their private wooden balconies, extending all the way to the Drakensberg mountains.
The main area has a bar and dining area that leads through to a boma, and swimming pool with deck area. Elephants are regular visitors to the splash pool during the drier winter months, and often create quite the spectacle for onlookers.
nThambo Tree Camp is located in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, which forms parts of the Greater Kruger. The drive from Johannesburg takes about 6 hours if you follow the nThambo Tree Camp directions. The roads are good and safe, while the scenery in the Mpumalanga/Limpopo region is spectacular.
Flying from Johannesburg or Cape Town to Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport is the quickest and easiest option for getting to nThambo. Hoedspruit receives guests travelling to the Greater Kruger every day. Your host from nThambo will meet you at the airport and drive you through the Timbavati Gate, into the Klaserie and onto nThambo Tree Camp.
Scheduled road transfers are another option for guests travelling to nThambo, and can be arranged via our reservations team.

- Its complimentary for couples celebrating their honeymoon and R500 per couple for those not on honeymoon but wanting to celebrate a special occasion.
- The below transfers can be booked through our reservations office in conjunction with a stay at nThambo Tree Camp.
- Road transfers are scheduled to tie in with the flight arrival times into and out of Hoedspruit Airport.
