The Last Word Madikwe is the newest addition and promises incredible, once-in-a-lifetime sightings right from the lodge and lovingly tended garden as herds of animals gather all day long at the ancient waterhole just meters away. The area’s original photographic underground hide also shares a unique view of this spectacle.
In the spirit of oasis and sanctuary, Last Word Madikwe is a completely unique safari experience. Twice daily games drives to track the Big Five are a guest favourite, but the true difference is to be found right at the lodge itself. The house pours on to green and tranquil gardens which flow to the ancient waterhole just meters from the lawn’s end. It is a place most of the animals visit daily and one can see large interactive herds of elephant, lions, leopard, buffalo, dogs, white and black rhino, and many more just by relaxing in a garden seat enjoying a drink or snack. Madikwe’s original underground hide steals right up to the waterhole where aspiring photographers can catch the shot of a lifetime. Birdlife is abundant and although you will see many different species while out on game drive, many love to visit the inviting garden area and will often join you for breakfast. And it’s malaria free.

- Madikwe caters for 2 pax per room, should you be travelling as a family with children under 12 years of age we recommend one adult and one child per room.
- Children 1 to 11 years pay 50% of the person per night rate.
- Children 12 years and older pay the adult per person per night rate
- Children under 1 years of age pay R1 250 per night, we can arrange for a cot
- Children under 6 are NOT allowed out on game drives
- Children rates do not apply to the Private Villa
- Should drivers/guides be required to stay at Last Word they will be required to pay the applicable room rate and this is subject to availability
- Last Word reserves the rights to implement dynamic/bar rates 90 days prior to check-in date

- Should you not receive a written response to your request then please assume that it was not received and resend the request as a booking was not made

- Provisional reservations made less than 30 days prior to arrival will be held for 48 hours
- Full names of guests travelling will be required to convert the status from provisional to confirmed

- Voucher numbers will not be accepted as guarantees for bookings
- Tour operators electing to settle a booking with a credit card will be subjected to a 5% surcharge
- Deposit conditions may be waivered for bookings from the trade, tour operators and agents

- There are daily flights into the Reserve with Federal Air.
- These depart from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and can be arranged on request at an additional charge.
- Road transfers can be arranged on request at an additional charge.
- The gate entrance fee / fly-in fee is payable on departure in camp.
- Wonderboom gates are open from 06h00 to 18h00, 7 days a week
- Vehicles can carry 10 guests per vehicle
